Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe — Transfer to Kampala

Upon arrival, you will be met by our representative who will transfer you to Kampala. You will be able to see homesteads designed in an African style of Building, serene vegetations, Roadside markets among others.

We’ll check you into one choice off these hotel options:

  • Luxury: Serena Hotel, Golf Course Hotel.
  • Mid-Range: Hotel Acacia, Emerald Hotel Kampala
  • Budget: Namirembe Guest house.

Meals — Dinner

Day 2: Kampala – Murchison Falls

After an early breakfast, leave Kampala heading northwest traversing homesteads, serene vegetations among others.

Optional visits to the Ziwa Rhino sanctuary for a nature walk to see the rare rhinos in the wild. Lunch en-route in Masindi town after which you proceed to Murchison Falls National Park.

On arrival drive straight to the top of the falls, where you can see the Niles perfected beauty and wonder as it squeezes through a seven meter canyon. The 43 meter drop of the falls creates a thunderous roar and a beautiful rainbow in the spray.

Day 3: Game drive and a boat cruise in Murchison Falls

After an early breakfast, go for a game drive on the Northern bank where your guide will help you spot a great number of animals like oribis, warthogs, elephants, giraffes, lions among others and birds like Dwarf Kingfisher, Chocolate-backed Kingfisher, a Selection of Tinker birds and Barbets among others. Return to the lodge for relaxation at the swimming pool side and lunch. In the afternoon, you will go for a boat cruise on the calm Victoria Nile and to the base of the falls.  There you can see hippos, crocodiles and over the 17-kilometer stretch you may also see elephants, waterbucks and Uganda kobs among others. This is also the habitat for many bird species. The boat takes you near the falls and you can hike to the top of the falls (optional). It is an exciting experience that brings you very close to the speeding up whitewater as it squeezes itself through the narrow gap.

Day 4: Murchison Falls – Kibale forest National Park

After an early breakfast, transfer to Kibale forest National park, driving Southwest through the Albertine Escarpment of the great Western Rift Valley. Lunch en-route in Fort portal town after which you continue to Kibale traversing homesteads, serene vegetation among others.

Day 5: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale National Park

After an early breakfast, you will go to hunt for chimpanzees. These primates are very mobile and viewing them is unpredictable but the forest walk is inspiring. The activity starts at 8.00 am in the morning and takes about 4 to 8 hours. This forest is home to large numbers of chimpanzees and other primates including phoestes, Red-colobuses, Red-tailed and grey cheeked manga beys, birds, butterflies. The ranger will not only provide detailed explanations on primates, but also on all the forests fauna and flora. Return for lunch after which you visit either the Kasenda Crater Lake region or bigodi community initiative swamp depending on your choice and enjoy the amazing panoramic views.

Day 6: Kibale Forest – Queen Elizabeth National Park

After an early breakfast, head south to Queen Elizabeth National Park, following the supernatural Rwenzori Mountain Range most of the journey. Lunch en-route.

On arrival sign into one of the following safari lodge options:

  • Luxury: Mweya Safari Lodge or Mweya Institute of ecology, The Baboon Safari Resort.
  • Mid-range: Kyambura Game Lodge
  • Budget: Irungu Forest Safari Lodge.

Boat Safari on Kazinga Channel

In the afternoon, go for the boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel. This boat trip passes through probably the highest concentration of hippos and many animals may be seen drinking at the edge of waters. This launch cruise gives you a great chance for photography, bird watching and game viewing. The plentiful bird life is colorful and remarkable with over 550 resident species.

Return to the lodge for the night.

Day 7:  Game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast, start the day with an early morning game drive along Kasenyi tracks and Queen’s mile in the park. Expect to see lions, elephants, cape buffalos, warthogs, spotted hyenas, mangoose, waterbucks, kobs and, if lucky, the leopard plus a lot of small animals and birds. You will go as far as Lake George.

Drive back to the lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon drive to the impressive Crater Lakes region for sightseeing.

Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Ishasha Tree Lions – Bwindi impenetrable National Park

After breakfast with your packed lunch, drive to Bwindi impenetrable National park via the Ishasha sector of  Queen Elizabeth National Park in search for the tree climbing lions found only in this area of Uganda. The landscape is open savannah with acacia trees. Take your packed lunch after which you proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Day 9: Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

After an early morning breakfast with packaged lunch, your driver – guide will drive you to the starting point of the gorilla tracking where you will be briefed by the Park rangers about tracking these apes in the forest. The rain forest is dense with numerous animal trails. The excitement of spending time by observing these apes is a memorable experience. Gorillas are shy and peaceful animals and it is an unforgettable experience to watch and photograph them as they interact with one another.

Return to the lodge.

Day 10: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest — Lake Bunyonyi

After any early breakfast, drive to Lake Bunyonyi before driving to Kabale through the gently sloping hills and terraced landscape. Lunch at Arcadia Cottages with its unique and amazing panoramic view of Lake Bunyonyi. This area is referred to as the “Switzerland” of Africa. In the afternoon, a boat ride on the lake to the various islands is also another great opportunity for bird watching and sightseeing.

Return to the lodge.

Day 11: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

After an early breakfast, drive to Lake Mburo National Park, the second smallest national park among other National parks, via homesteads, tea plantations among others. Lunch in Mbarara town after which you proceed to the park.

Go for a game drive in search for the beautiful impalas, zebras, cape buffalos, elands, oribi and topi among others. Return to the lodge and in the evening you will go for a boat Cruise on Lake Mburo. The park is a very good opportunity for bird watchers, who will enjoy more than 250 species of birds found here, including Papyrus gonoleks, Brown-faced lapwings, Carruthers cisticolas among others.

Day 12: Lake Mburo – Entebbe:

After an early breakfast, drive back to Entebbe for your flight back home. Here you will traverse home steads, banana plantations, road side markets among others. A stopover at the equator for photography and lunch. After drive to Entebbe for your international flight.

End of the 12 Day Uganda Jungle Safari.
