Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Kampala — Murchison Falls National Park

After breakfast in your hotel, your driver – guide will come and meet you to start on your journey northwest to Murchison Falls National Park, the largest protected area in Uganda. A stopover in Masindi town for lunch after which you continue to the park traverse the serene vegetations, homesteads, road side markets among others. Upon arrival in the park, drive straight to the top of the falls to see the most spectacular water falls squeezing through a 6m gap in the rock crashing through a narrow gorge with unbelievable power. If lucky you can see the rainbow cutting across the wide Nile River.

Day 2: Game drive and boat cruise in Murchison Falls

After breakfast before sunrise, you will get on a game drive on river Nile’s northern banks to view game. Here you will be able to see animals like hyenas, elephants, oribis, leopards, giraffes, lions, Uganda Kobs, hartebeests among others. Return to the lodge for relaxation and lunch after which you embark on a boat ride in the afternoon on the Victoria Nile up to the base of the falls. On this pleasant boat ride you will see water animals like crocodiles, elephants, hippos, buffaloes and many varieties of birds including the Kingfisher.

Return to your lodge.

Day 3: Murchison Falls — Kibale Chimpanzee forest

After an early morning breakfast, depart for Kibale National Park driving throughout the Albertine Escarpment. The panorama drive will take you close to 8 hours before arriving in Fort Portal. Then proceed past the Rift Valley’s western arm through the beautiful Ugandan countryside. You will land Fort Portal in the afternoon, have lunch and then head to Kibale.

Upon arrival, check into the option of available accommodations:

  • Luxury: Kyaninga Lodge, Ndali Lodge,
  • Mid-range: Primate Lodge,
  • Budget: Kibale Forest Camp, Mountain of the Moon.

If time allows, you will go for a nature walk to view birds in the Bigodi swamp sanctuary. During this walk you will encounter primates like the colobus monkeys and the Bush Babies in addition to a variety of flora and fauna.

Return to your lodge for the night.

Day 4: Chimpanzee tracking in Kibale Forest — Queen Elizabeth NP

After breakfast you will head to the headquarters of Kibale Forest National Park for a briefing about the entire tracking process before heading out to start tracking the chimpanzees. As you trek, the game ranger will not only inform you about the chimpanzees but additionally about the flora and fauna.

After finding the chimpanzees, you will head back to the lodge for lunch after which you depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park which is situated in the shadows of the legendary Mountain of the Moon.

Day 5: Game drive and Boat cruise Tour in Queen Elizabeth

After dinner, you will go for a game drive to catch sight of the night predators returning from their hunt and also see the early risers. You will see animals such as lions, hyenas, warthogs, leopards Uganda Kobs and big forest hogs. After that you will return for breakfast at the lodge.  You will rest for the remaining morning until lunch. In the afternoon you will have a boat trip on the Kazinga Channel which links both Lakes George and Albert. You will view a variety of numerous animals drinking water by the shores and among these may include, Hippos, Buffaloes, and elephants together with a wealth of birds.

Return to your lodge.

Day 6: Chimpanzee tracking in the Kyambura Gorge — Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

After breakfast you will depart for Kyambura gorge to track the hard to pin down chimpanzees which are fast moving. You may also be fortunate to find other primates like the black and white colobus monkeys together with other game.

Return to the lodge for your lunch after which you drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park which is a haven for half of the total population of the existing Mountain Gorillas. This drive is so rewarding with numerous en-routes likes tree-climbing lions, warthogs and Uganda kobs.

You will arrive in the park in the late evening and check in to the option of available accommodations:

  • Badget: Buhoma community Bandas,
  • Buhoma Homestead.

Day 7: Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

After breakfast, you will continue to the headquarters of the park with your packed lunch for a briefing about Gorilla trekking.  After that you will set out along the tracks in the dense forest as you search for the giant apes. The duration you will take to track down these gorillas will depend on the Gorillas movements taking you about 2 to 8 hours. The trekking is tiresome but when you come face-to –face with these apes you will be amazed by their natural individuality and harmony as you deeply stare into their brown eyes. This sole experience can only be encountered in Uganda, Congo or Rwanda.

Retire to your lodge for the night.

Day 8: Bwindi — Lake Mburo National Park:

After breakfast, you will drive to Lake Mburo National Park found in Mbarara district. You will arrive in the afternoon.

Upon arrival check into the option of available accommodations:

  • Mid-range: Rwakobo Rock Lodge/Mburo safari lodge,
  • Budget: Rwonyo Camp Site

Have your lunch and later embark on a foot safari companied by a guide to Rwonyo area.

Retire to your lodge for the eveing.

Day 9: Game drive, Canoe ride in Lake Mburo N.Park

After breakfast, you will proceed for a game drive very early in the morning through the park as you look for predators and numerous animals like hyenas, jackals, zebras, Topis, leopards, eland, buffaloes and impalas among others. Return to the lodge for relaxation and lunch after which you go for a canoe ride to the lake to view the water animals. You will also catch sight on the swamp residents such as hippos and numerous buffaloes in addition to a wide variety of birds like the Papyrus Gonoleks, shop bill stork among others.

Retire to your Lodge for the evening relaxing.

Day 10: Lake Mburo — Kampala:

After breakfast, you will return to Kampala stopping for a game drive on the way and also at the equator to take some photographs and lunch. From there you will proceed back to Kampala traversing homesteads, serene vegetation roadside markets among others.
